Reality: There are virtually zero "Learning How to Speak Tahitian" website in English. I looked for a really long time and could only find common words and phrases. The useful sites are in French, even with those...there aren't too many. Use Google.fr and just translate your search terms into French. (This may be a problem for people who have not been exposed to French before. Pray hard!) But let's look at the bright side..there is no way to study Tahitian without vastly improving your French.
Seriously, do we have the best mission ever?! Two languages?! I feel so blessed for the opportunity to learn and teach in both!
Here are some sites I found to actually be useful:
Learning Tahitian French Website -- really great links!
French Tahitian Dictionary
Intro to Tahitian in French
French book on Tahitian
Tahitian French Dictionary
Learn to Speak Tahitian with Tahitian TV
Note: I just learned that the "r"s in Tahitian are meant to be rolled (as opposed to the soft guttural French "r"s) HOORAY! I was meant to speak Tahitian! Thank you, Paris for teaching me the former, and the Russian language for teaching me how to roll my rrrrrrrrs! :)
UPDATE: A book on Tahitian in English (gloria!) Okay, you can only see a couple pages, but we are gleaning!
